Privacy
RhetoricArena is run by one person on his own servers. This page states what the service stores about you, where, for how long, and who can read it. It is written to satisfy the GDPR and Brazil's LGPD, and the same text covers both.
What is stored
There are no user accounts. The service stores two kinds of data.
The debates you run. A debate is the motion, the settings you chose, every turn you submitted (typed text, or the voice transcript, including the raw transcript before cleanup), the opponents' turns, the evaluations, the audience verdict and the final report. Each debate has a random identifier and nothing else ties it to you.
Access logs. Every request and every debate connection writes one row with the time, your IP address, the forwarding chain your connection came through, the request path and status, your browser's user agent string, the referer, and the identifier of the debate the connection belongs to. Request bodies, API keys and authorization headers are never logged.
If you paste your own DeepSeek API key, it is held in the server's memory for the length of that debate and never written to disk or to the database. Your browser keeps a copy in its local storage so you do not have to paste it again; clearing the site's data removes it.
Where
On the operator's own servers. The service may be hosted on a rented virtual server in the European Union, with backups sent to the operator's own hardware. The data does not leave the operator's control except as described under the next heading.
Who can read it
The operator. Nobody else has access to the database or the logs.
The model providers see what they must process. DeepSeek receives the motion and the text of every turn, yours and the opponents', because it plays the opponents and writes the judgements. When you use voice input, the audio is sent to Groq for transcription and is not stored by this server. When server voices are on, the opponents' lines are sent to OpenAI to be read aloud. Your own words are not. Each provider handles that data under its own terms.
Every resource the page loads, fonts included, is served from this server. Your browser contacts no other host on behalf of this site.
How long
Access log rows are deleted after 60 days. Stored debates are deleted after 30 days. The retention is enforced by the application itself, once a day.
No analytics, no cookies
There are no third-party analytics scripts and no tracking cookies. The service sets no cookies at all. Your browser's local storage holds your debate settings, your voice preferences and, if you gave one, your API key. None of that is sent anywhere except to this server for the purpose you set it for.
Export and deletion
Your submissions are not linked to an identity beyond the access log, so there is no account to export or close. The report page of a finished debate has a button that downloads the whole debate, and a button that deletes it from the server, database copy included. A debate you no longer have open can be deleted by sending its identifier to renatobritto.professional@gmail.com; the request is honoured within 30 days. Access log rows expire on their own under the retention above.
